ART’S FORUM COMES TO ORANGE

02 March 2023

The Federal Government’s Special Envoy for the Arts, Susan Templeman MP, Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, and the Office for the Arts will host an arts forum at Orange Regional Gallery on Friday 3 March.

The forum is an opportunity to learn more about the new National Cultural Policy - Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place, and how it will benefit artists and creatives in the regions and discuss ideas for its implementation.

The new National Cultural Policy has the goal of making sure there is a place for every story, and a story for every place, especially the regions. Revive was developed after extensive consultation with the arts community. More than 1,200 submissions were received, and 14 town hall meetings were held across the country, including one in Bathurst.

Quotes attributable to Ms Templeman:

“It was fabulous to hear from arts workers at forums in Bathurst and Dubbo as we consulted on the National Cultural Policy, so I am delighted to be able to return to the Central West and do the next stage of feedback and consultation in Orange.

“Andrew Gee has been part of the earlier consultation, and I look forward to hosting this event alongside him.

“Revive will help the arts in regional Australia to flourish and recognises that regional communities deserve access to all the benefits that a thriving cultural sector provides.

“I look forward to continuing our conversations with artists and arts workers around Australia to ensure that this policy is implemented effectively.”

Quotes attributable to Mr Gee:

“It’s wonderful to have Susan Templeman MP, Special Envoy for the Arts returning to our region.

“The Central West is home to some incredible creative minds and it’s paramount these voices are heard during both the consultation and implementation phase of this policy.

“After a tough few years for the arts due to the pandemic, the future is looking bright for creative industries across our region and Australia.”
