KURRAJONG HEIGHTS CELEBRATES NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT

Children in Kurrajong Heights have been enjoying a brand new playground thanks to grant funding secured by Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman.

 

The new playground at Kurrajong Heights Bowling Club was officially declared open by Ms Templeman late last month after a number of delays - including bushfires and Covid - hampered its completion.

 

“Finally, two-and-a-half years after I helped the club secure $20,000 worth of funding for this project, which they matched in cash and kind, I was really happy to be able to join together with local residents to cut the ribbon and declare the playground open,” Ms Templeman said.

 

“The Club has had to contend with everything from bushfires, to freak storms, floods and then COVID on top of it all before it could actually complete the project.

 

“Community members volunteered hundreds of hours to get the playground done, and they have done a magnificent job.

 

“It’s a great new place for the kids, and I know Hawkesbury Community Outreach Service was planning to use it for a new playgroup operating out of the Bowlo every Tuesday from 10am to 12 noon.

 

“It’s been a big hit with local kids, many of whom gave it the thumbs-up during the opening. They also received free showbags courtesy of Hawkesbury Community Outreach Services and balloons and bags of lollies donated by the club to mark the occasion.

 

“The Club is such a wonderful part of this community, run entirely by volunteers and providing a great local focus for residents of the area. I was up there recently for the drag trivia night, and it was completely booked out.
