FRESH FOOD MEANS HEALTHY EATING FOR BLAXLAND STUDENTS

09 December 2020

Blaxland East Public School students have been enjoying fresh school-grown produce after a grant secured by Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, helped establish a new vegetable garden.

The school obtained $1000 to purchase Vegepods – raised and covered garden beds – which have been located right outside the school canteen so the produce can go straight into healthy meals for the children.

“Blaxland East Public School has the most fantastic kitchen garden, and it gets turned into tasty and nutritious meals at the school canteen,” Ms Templeman said.

“I know that pumpkins grown in the school garden have been roasted and made into delicious hidden pumpkin mac and cheese, and I got to sample some gorgeous extra healthy beetroot brownies, when I visited.
