Glenbrook Gourmet Trefoil Guild of the Girl Guides has bought a new iPad and first aid kit thanks to a grant secured by Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman.

Trefoil Guild is for older Guides, and the Glenbrook members meet regularly to contribute to charities such as Share the Dignity.

“The Glenbrook Gourmet Trefoil Guild needed some new technology to help them with the running of the club, so applied for a Community Volunteer Grant,” Ms Templeman said.

“These grants are specifically designed to support volunteers to do what they do. It’s not to start another project, it’s really to help them with the everyday running of their organisation.

“These grants are especially helpful to organisations like Glenbrook Gourmet Trefoil Guild, which has a limited capacity to access other streams of income.

“The Guild has a capacity to do small scale fundraising, but in COVID times it’s almost impossible to raise money.

“I was really pleased they were able to purchase an iPad, keyboard and iPad pen, and as much as I like the brand new first aid kit they also purchased, I hope they never need to use it. It’s great to know they’ve got it if they need it.

“Like so many other grant programs, my office was completely overwhelmed with applications for this grant. There was $66,000 available, but my office received applications worth $150,000.

“I have written to the Minister to request additional support for our cash-strapped volunteer groups.

“I congratulate Guild members on receiving the grant, and believe they have made a really fantastic investment.”
