I welcome the NSW Government’s announcement of a pathway forward to reopen the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass.

As the Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister have already committed, our Government will work through any NSW Government request for funding for this project as a priority. 

I want to thank the NSW Minister for Roads for her ongoing engagement through their process of finding an engineering solution, and the Member for Blue Mountains Trish Doyle for her strong advocacy on behalf of our businesses and community members profoundly impacted by the closure.

I also acknowledge the Member for Calare’s advocacy for his community.

I know that the Albanese Government will continue to engage constructively with NSW Government to see this vital road reopened.
