HOW WE CAN SUPPORT EACH OTHER DURING COVID-19
Over the past weeks and months our frontline workers in health and education have been under enormous stress, as have people working in retail, transport, law enforcement, the community sector, service providers and small business.
It’s been an extraordinary time of change and uncertainty and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who is helping keep our community safe during this time.
I’d also like to thank our entire community for listening to the advice and staying home to help save lives. It hasn’t been easy for anyone but your cooperation continues to make a huge difference.
During this time, my team and I have made hundreds of calls to check in on some of our older and more vulnerable residents and offer assistance where it’s needed.
We’ve been able to help many people with practical things like putting them in touch with local businesses who deliver groceries, but mostly we’ve found people were just really pleased to receive a friendly phone call.
It didn’t come as a surprise to hear that many people already have their neighbours and others in the community checking in with them as well. The way our community has banded together to look out for each other has been really wonderful.
