I think it’s really sad that this historic bridge is going to be decommissioned and demolished. 

There are many people who question why this bridge has to go, including the late Jack Mundey, Secret River author Kate Grenville, and radio host Alan Jones. This issue crossed political lines. 

I have stood by the community who value the Hawkesbury’s heritage and demanded a proper traffic solution throughout the many years of this fight. 

The most disappointing thing today is that the community will lose the potential of this bridge to be put to community use. 

I have said many times this bridge could have provided a really great pedestrian link between the township of Windsor, and the attraction of the beach beside the river.
