SUBJECT: Türkiye earthquake assistance.

SUSAN TEMPLEMAN, FEDERAL MEMBER FOR MACQUARIE: I’m Susan Templeman the federal member of this area. The Minister for Emergency Management, Senator Murray Watt has asked me to be here to pass on our thanks to you for giving your time and your skills to go and represent Australia, in what is clearly one of the most horrific disasters that Türkiye has seen.

I want to thank you for the preparation and training that you've done. We know you will do Australia proud and that your assistance will make a difference to people. We're very proud to be able to support New South Wales to get you on that RAAF plane and get you over there.

It is a really key part of Australia demonstrating to the world that we are part of a global society. But more importantly, the Turkish community in Australia will also be watching with deep gratitude at your efforts to support their family back home. So thank you.

I’m sure at this time in the morning you want a hear a really long speech from politicians but thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts on behalf of the Australian Government.
